Remembering Don Evans of Don’s Auto Repair in Imlay City, MI: A Community Tribute

Imlay City, Michigan, mourns the loss of Donald Sidney Evans III, a cherished resident and the heart behind Don’s Auto Repair Imlay City MI. Don, aged 51, passed away on April 9th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of service, friendship, and unwavering faith.

Born on September 11th, 1972, in Rochester, Michigan, to Donald Jr. and Patsy (Ward) Evans, Don’s dedication to mechanics began early. He earned his certifications at Pontiac Northern and further demonstrated his commitment to service by joining the Army Reserves. His passion for helping others extended to his community as he served as a firefighter with the Imlay City Fire Department from 2003 to 2014.

In 2007, Don’s entrepreneurial spirit and love for cars culminated in the establishment of Don’s Auto Repair in Imlay City, MI. More than just a business, Don’s Auto Repair became a cornerstone of the community. For Don, customers were not just clients; they were friends. This personal touch and genuine care defined his business and endeared him to countless individuals in Imlay City and beyond. Beyond his professional life at Don’s Auto Repair Imlay City, Don’s faith was central to his life. He was a devoted Christian, and his beliefs guided his interactions and relationships. Don was also an avid outdoorsman, finding joy and peace in hunting and fishing. An accomplished hunter and fisherman, he co-captained the Silver Addiction in Ludington, Michigan, showcasing his passion for the outdoors.

Don is survived by Lisa, the love of his life, and his children Donald Evans IV, Caeliegh (Hunter) Galbraith, and Ty Evans, as well as his loyal hunting dog, Dakota. He is also survived by his parents, Donald Jr. and Patsy Evans; his siblings David (Jessica) Evans, Jayde (Kevan) Riley, and Tasha Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In a final act of selflessness, Don chose to donate his organs to Gift of Life, further exemplifying his giving nature.

Visitation to celebrate Don’s life will be held at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, located at 225 N. Main St, Imlay City, on Friday, April 12th, from 2 pm to 5 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service will take place at Heritage Church, 543 N. Cedar St, Imlay City, on Saturday, April 13th, at 11 am, with visitation at the church from 10 am to 11 am, followed by a luncheon at the Imlay City Eagles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Security Credit Union – Don/Lisa Evans and Venmo – @DonEvansMemorial.
